NEWS | 03/06/2017

"We deserve this record, it's been an incredible season", said the Portuguese star.
The best player in the world was decisive once again in leading his team to another title. Cristiano Ronaldo was chosen as MVP in the Champions League final after netting two goals in the 1-4 win over Juventus. He opened the scoring on 20 minutes with a fast time shot after a fine Carvajal pass. Then, with 64 on the clock, just three minutes after Casemiro's strike, he notched the third at the front post from a Modric cross.

The Portuguese forward was clearly thrilled at the end of the game: “It's another well-deserved record for us, we're really happy. Zidane really believes in us, he knows we're a great team and we demonstrated that in the second half. It's been an incredible season and ending the year with the Champions League and another record makes me very happy. On a personal level I've had a great end to the season, I've been preparing for this. We won and we're the best”.

He received the award from Alex Ferguson
The former Manchester United Manager was on hand in the press room to hand the trophy over to the MVP: “It's been a special season. We won LaLiga and the Champions League and we've got an incredible team. The team has been amazing and on an individual level as well. I've prepared to be in good shape at this crucial stage of the season and I've scored some important goals. I'm really thrilled, very happy”.

"It was a very even match. Juventus started very well in the first half, creating opportunities. But in the second half Real Madrid were impressive. Our midfielders played very well, the defence were on top and then the goals have come naturally as we were dominating the game. It has been one of the best second halves that Real Madrid have played this season".

"It’s always difficult to win a Champions League and especially against a team that had only conceded three goals throughout the Champions League and today we’ve got four and that shows how good we’ve been this season. It's been a great season. We have won the double and the numbers speak for themselves. I am in some of the best form of my career".

Support from the fans
"Thanks a lot to the fans for the support who have been with us from the beginning both in the League and in the Champions League. This Cup is theirs".

The Portuguese striker’s show in the final summed up another brilliant Champions League for him individually, scoring 12 goals, which made him the top scorer in the competition for the fifth season in a row. The all-time top scorer in the Champions League keeps breaking records. He is the first player to score in three separate Champions League finals. La Duodécima is also his fourth Champions League title.
