The Canopy by Hilton Madrid Castellana played host to the latest edition of the Foro Luis de Carlos, organised by the Real Madrid Foundation under the slogan, Real Madrid Universal. The Foundation's executive vice-president Enrique Sánchez led the event, which was moderated by Realmadrid TV journalist Álvaro de la Lama. The forum was attended by madridista legends including Butragueño, Roberto Carlos, Arbeloa, Gallego, Cristóbal Rodríguez, Felipe Reyes and Romay.

During the meeting, Real Madrid's Director of Institutional Relations Emilio Butragueño discussed his time as a player: “When I left the club, I didn't want to play in Europe anymore so I wouldn't have to face Real Madrid. The values I was taught while I played for Real Madrid have served me for the rest of my life. We belong to the world”.

Madridista legend and club ambassador Roberto Carlos reflected: “I was lucky enough to play alongside the very best and now I'm fortunate enough to be working as an ambassador for this club. I have been privileged at every stage of my life".

Felipe Reyes, Real Madrid basketball team's all-time leading appearance-maker, explained: "You always have to stand up and be counted at this club, the demands are enormous. Everyone who comes to play here already knows what it means, that's why all the best players want to come and play for the greatest club in the world".
Club legend and current U-19s coach Arbeloa stated: “This club is different, it's unique. Until you go elsewhere, you don't quite realise the magnitude of the club. I travel far and wide and when you say, ‘Real Madrid’, people smile, their faces light up. It's important to understand the history and greatness of this club and that's one of the things I focus on teaching the younger kids".

Gallego was part of the Real Madrid first-team squad between 1980 and 1989 and is currently working as a Foundation ambassador: “Many of you who are here today experienced that change with us which was the dawn of a new era. We transmitted that to players like Emilio and it lives on in the guys playing today".

Fernando Romay, who played for our basketball team from 1976 to 1993, remarked: “Real Madrid is international because we are everywhere, but it's universal because we live in the hearts of so many people. Real Madrid arouses so many feelings. It's a way of being, a way of behaving”.
Lastly, Cristóbal Rodríguez, Real Madrid center from 1966 and 1979, added: “The players aren't what makes Real Madrid great; it's the club that makes the players great".
