Bruun's brace in pre-season opener seals the win in Mexico

Tigres Femenil went ahead, but two goals from the new Real Madrid signing and another from Maite Oroz secured the win for Toril's side.

Real Madrid got their pre-season tour of Mexico off to a winning start. Toril's side beat Tigres Femenil in Monterrey thanks to a brace from Signe Bruun on her debut as a Real Madrid player and a stunning goal from Maite Oroz. A greart performance from our team in front of 21,399 fans, in a game that saw Chavas, Oihane and youth players Olaya and Sara Extremera make their debuts.
 
It was a high intensity start for our team to a match affected by the previous deluge, which led to the pitch conditions at the Estadio Universitario de San Nicolás de los Garza not being at their best and the ball not moving well in some areas. Despite the madridistas creating a number of chances, it was the home side who took the lead through a Reyes goal in the 37th minute. Real Madrid were quick to react, however, and Bruun headed in her first Real Madrid goal before the break (40').

Three changes we made at the begining of the second half. Linda, Athenea and Zornoza came on and it didn't take long for the former to demonstrate her great quality. The Colombian played down the left wing and whipped in a measured cross that Bruun headed home (57'). Weir and Zornoza linked up well to set up Maite Oroz for the third goal, who headed the past the keeper from close range (61'). Tigres Femenil could have pulled one back towards the end of the game, but Chavas pulled off a great save to deny them. Next up for the madridistas will be a game against Club América at the Azteca stadium in Mexico City (Sunday 3 September, 10pm CEST; 2pm local time).
