The madridista is in the running for the award alongside Messi and Mbappé; the winner will be announced on 27th February.
Karim Benzema is among the three finalists for The Best FIFA Player of the Year award for 2022. The winner will be announced at The Best Awards gala in Paris on Monday 27th February 2023. The other two finalists are Mbappé and Messi.
This award recognises achievements between 8th August 2021 and 18th December 2022. In that period, the Madrid striker has been crucial in winning the Champions League, the European Super Cup, La Liga and the Spanish Super Cup. Benzema was top scorer in La Liga and the Champions League and also won the Ballon d'Or as well as the UEFA Player of the Year trophy in 2022.
Voting
The voting took place from 12th January to 3rd February and the winner is chosen by the coaches and captains of the national teams, specialist journalists representing each national team, and fans around the world via FIFA+.
