Real Madrid - Maccabi

Eighth Final Four appearance in last 11 editions

NEWS STORY. 26/04/2022

Our team clinched the club's ninth European Cup crown in Madrid in 2015 and the 10th in 2018 in Belgrade, which will host this year's competition.

Real Madrid will contest the Final Four 2022, which will take place between 19 and 21 May at Belgrade's Stark Arena, after recording a 3-0 playoff series win over Maccabi. In the last 10 editions (the competition was not held in 2020 on account of the pandemic) our team has featured in seven, making this an eighth participation since 2011. During this period, Madrid has been crowned twice: Madrid 2015 and Belgrade 2018 and is the competition's most decorated team, alongside CSKA Moscow and Olympiacos. Four years on from lifting the club's 10th European crown in Belgrade, the team returns to the same setting to try and repeat that feat.

There was great desire to make the Final Four following the suspension of the 2020 edition due to COVID-19 and after the team missed out last season following the quarter-final defeat at the hands of Anadolu Efes in a thrilling tie. Real Madrid now has the chance to add to its honours in the competition. In the past decade, our team has been virtutally an ever-present amongst the four finalists, having made eight appearances, a record that is only beaten by CSKA's nine, followed by Fenerbahçe, Olympiacos and Barça with four. In this 11-year period and excluding 2020, the Whites have contested the Final Four in 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2017, 2018, 2019 and will now line up in the 2022 edition. The madridistas have triumped on two occasions, been runners-up twice, finished third once and fourth twice.
