Real Madrid paid tribute to Felipe Reyes during the Clásico at the WiZink Center. Our former captain announced his retirement from the game last season, and today he said goodbye to his fans, on a day that will live long in the memory of all madridistas. In the 9th minute of the game, the number he wore on his jersey for his 17 seasons at the club, the game was paused and Reyes took to the court with his children, where he was treated to a spectacular ovation.
Felipe Reyes reflected: “The day has finally come for me to say goodbye to you all. I wanted to thank you for the support and love you've shown me during the last 17 years. We have achieved madridistas' dreams and none of it would have been possible without you. I would like to thank my family, teammates, coaches and our president, for your support and warmth. Thank you, presi. You're like family to me and I will carry you all in my heart, all I ask is that you continue to support us as you always have done because you're the best fans and the best club in the world. Hala Madrid!".
Reyes had an impressive career at Real Madrid, winning 23 titles (2 Euroleagues, 1 Intercontinental Cup, 7 Leagues, 6 Copa del Rey, 6 Super Cups and 1 ULEB Cup) becoming Real Madrid's all-time leading appearance maker (1,046).
