Socio-sporting schools in Europe increased by 20% during the 2019/20 season

The Real Madrid Foundation and Epicentr for Children jointly launched four new projects in Ukraine.
The number of Real Madrid Foundation's socio-sporting schools in Europe increased from 13 to 17 in the 2019/20 season, with the resulting increase in the number of permanent participants, which now totals 1,500 children, not counting the projects in Spain.

Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Hungary, Italy, Portugal, United Kingdom, Romania, Russia and Ukraine are the European countries where Real Madrid Foundation's socio-sports projects are located. These are carried out thanks to the collaboration of different local partners, who implement the methodology, and of collaborating entities that contribute to its sustainability, as is the case of UEFA Foundation or Epicentr K.

The four new projects in Ukraine are an example of the online adaptation of socio-sporting schools.

During the 2019/2020 season, the Foundation, in collaboration with the NGO Epicentr for Children, started four new socio-sporting schools in Ukraine that were inaugurated last October by Emilio Butragueño.

Online adaptation
These schools in Irpin, Khmelnitskiy, Skarzhyntsi and Ruzhychanka, which joined the initial one inaugurated the year before in Ternopil, had to suspend their face-to-face activity in March. However, during the confinement stage, the Epicentr K sponsor provided the children with the necessary technology to continue with the distance training sessions. Thanks to the support of the Training Department of the Real Madrid Foundation, the Playing at Home, Playing with Your Family program was implemented. In addition, the local partner has developed an online educational program that includes learning games, English classes and school reinforcement.

New term
The Foundation's socio-sporting projects all over Europe are waiting for the guidelines from the health authorities of each country in order to start a new term in September or to resume the activities at home.
