Real Madrid will face Manchester City in the Champions League round of 16 after the draw held at the UEFA headquarters in Nyon. The first leg will be played at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium on Wednesday 26 February, with the return leg taking place at the Etihad Stadium at Tuesday 17 March. The two matches will be played at 9pm CET.
Manchester City comfortably topped Group C, where they faced Atalanta, Shakhtar Donetsk and Dynamo Zagreb. Undefeated in the competition, they have only drawn two games. With four goals conceded, they have one of the best defensive records in the group stage. Raheem Sterling (5) is the top scorer for a team that lies third in the Premier League.

Previous encounters
Real Madrid and Manchester City have met on four previous occasions in Europe's elite club competition. The Whites have the upper hand, having emerged victorious in two of these games, with the other two ending honours even. The first clash was in the group stage of the 2012/13 campaign as Madrid ran out 3-2 winners at the Bernabéu, followed by a 1-1 draw in Manchester. The other edition in which the two sides locked horns was in the 2015/16 season. On that occasion, Real Madrid saw off the English outfit at the semi-final stage (0-0 and 1-0) en route to lifting the Undécima in Milan.
