Primera estancia formativa de la Fundación en Cabo Verde

First training experience for the Foundation in Cape Verde

NEWS | 09/05/2019

María Menchen was the first coach to have the exchange experience for a month.
Coaches and students at the Foundation's socio-sporting school in Mindelo (Cape Verde) welcomed a coach from Madrid who visited for four weeks. María Menchen helped lead training sessions and provided psychomotricity support in PE classes, as well as helping to organise, plan and prepare basketball training sessions and giving a supporting role in football sessions. She will also carry out training workshops for the children, coaches and staff in the Pedagogy and Didactics departments.
This is the first training experiences the Foundation is running and it serves as a tool to help motivate and promote the school, rewarding the school's commitment, hard work and dedication over recent seasons. Over 50 education professionals will learn more about the methodology of the Real Madrid Foundation through direct contact and exclusive training space for professional betterment in the education and sporting sector.
Understanding new tools
Bértilo Fonseca, coordinator of the socio-sporting school, stated that this is a vital opportunity to help take on new exercises, new dynamics and well thought out methods, which are still unknown to some: "These training experiences are so welcome, as they provide key work methodologies and forward thinking practices that give us new tools to bolster our training sessions."
The Mindelo social-sporting school started working in 2012 with the support of the charity organisation Salesian Missions. At the moment, around 130 children are benefitting from varied football and basketball activities. The school's quest towards equality and complete parity in participation is one of their key fundamentals. As well as the sporting activities, which includes inter-school tournaments and a charity tournament at the end of the season, students get access to reinforcement classes, academic help, cultural field-trips, training on values, nutritional aid and free medical check-ups.
