Understanding new tools
Bértilo Fonseca, coordinator of the socio-sporting school, stated that this is a vital opportunity to help take on new exercises, new dynamics and well thought out methods, which are still unknown to some: "These training experiences are so welcome, as they provide key work methodologies and forward thinking practices that give us new tools to bolster our training sessions."
The Mindelo social-sporting school started working in 2012 with the support of the charity organisation Salesian Missions. At the moment, around 130 children are benefitting from varied football and basketball activities. The school's quest towards equality and complete parity in participation is one of their key fundamentals. As well as the sporting activities, which includes inter-school tournaments and a charity tournament at the end of the season, students get access to reinforcement classes, academic help, cultural field-trips, training on values, nutritional aid and free medical check-ups.
