Real Madrid overcome Olimpia de Asunción in the 2002 final.The 3rd December 2002 saw Real Madrid claim their third Intercontinental Cup, as the Whites capped off the club's centenary year winning the Intercontinental Cup. Real Madrid beat Olimpia de Asunción in Yokohama. Ronaldo and Guti scored to set Real Madrid on their way to a magic night for the Whites.
Real Madrid soon went ahead. The Brazilian fired home to make it 1-0. He would go on to be named man of the match after his stellar dispalys. The Whites weren't able to double their advantage until after the break, when a Guti header sealed victory in the dying minutes to make sure the club added to their international trophy haul. they also won the European Cup that year and the UEFA Super Cup. They now had won the title of World Champions seven times.
