Real Madrid - Getafe

Carvajal: “It's important to start off with a win”

NEWS | 20/08/2018

"We're gradually picking up what the coach asks of us and we've got a squad here that's capable of challenging on all fronts", declared Ceballos.
Dani Carvajal spoke to the media after the win against Getafe: "I’ve been able to help the team with my goal, but the most important thing was to pick up points, keep a clean sheet and come away feeling happy with our performance. It’s the second goal that I’ve scored with my head, after one that I scored in 2014 against Osasuna, and hopefully I’ll score many more. The team is still in the early stages, working hard and taking on the coach’s ideas. We’ve created a lot and didn’t give the opposition many chances, which is very good".
"We picked up the three points and now we have to work towards next week. This is the way forward, limiting the opposition’s chances to score will help us pick up lots of points. For the team it was important to start off with a win and every match will be important because the points are as decisive in August as in they are May".
"LaLiga started at the Santiago Bernabéu against a difficult opponent, who will cause others problems, and my assessment of the performance is a positive one. Last year we swept up in the Super Cups but it was harder for us to get into the winning dynamic in the league, so we don’t want that to happen again this season and we want to get every possible point".

Ceballos: "We're adapting to the gaffer's way of doing things"
"It was important to get off to a winning start and it's always positive to pick up the three points here at home whilst giving a good account of ourselves. We're adapting to the gaffer's way of doing things and I head home happy with both my own and the team's performance. We played well and came flying out of the blocks. We're gradually picking up what the coach asks of us and we've got a squad here that's capable of challenging on all fronts".

"Getafe were tough opposition and made things uncomfortable for us. We were very disciplined defensively and if we all help each other out, everything is so much easier: we saw that they barely fashioned any chances. I'm pleased after what was a tough year and with perseverance, hard work and the support of those that are close to me, I've turned things around. I'm grateful for the support from the Bernabéu fans and the trust that the gaffer has placed in me".
