Madrid win their twelfth European Cup after thrashing Juventus. Zidane's team retain the title, something which has never happened in the 25-year history of the tournament in its current format”. El Mundo lead with: “Madrid clinch La Duodécima after thrashing Juventus”.
La Razón opt for: “Real Madrid's twelfth dance. There is nobody better than Real Madrid”. ABC follow a similar line: “Real Madrid claim La Duodécima, destroying a rocky Juventus side in the second half to clinch a double 59 years on. Cristiano Ronaldo is the king “o rei” of the Champions League".
L´Equipe pick the headline: “Legendary status. Real Madrid retain the Champions League, the first time that's happened since 1990, with a 1-4 thrashing of Juventus in a magnificent final”. The Guardian say: “Ronaldo takes Real Madrid to their twelfth European crown. BBC Sport highlights the Whites' victory: “A brilliant goal-scoring exhibition by Real Madrid to retain the Champions League. Cristiano Ronaldo nets a double to make Real Madrid European Champions for the twelfth time”.
Bild leads with Ronaldo: “He has the key to eternity”. Die Welt praised Real Madrid: “Zidane’s winning machine becomes a super club, holding onto its Champions League title”. La Gazetta dello Sport says "The dream is over” in reference to Juventus and refers to Real Madrid as “European Champions” and to Ronaldo using qualifier of “Real”. A Bola states: “Ronaldo and Real Madrid make history against Juventus (4-1)”.
La Duodécima comes to America
USA Today says that Cristiano Ronaldo is “lethal” and Real Madrid as “the first team to win the Champions League twice”. In Argentina, Olé talks about the historic madridista feat: “Cristiano Ronaldo, with two goals, guided Real Madrid to their 12th title after beating Juventus 4-1 in Cardiff. This is the third in four years for the madridistas, and the second in a row, simply unprecedented”. The Brazilian O Globo stated: “Real Madrid thrash Juventus and win the second Champions League in a row. Ronaldo scored two goals as the Spanish side got their 12th title”.
