Real Madrid is the team with the most candidates for this trophy, which will be awarded by UEFA on 25 August.Four Real Madrid players are amongst the 10 candidates for the UEFA award for the best player in Europe. Cristiano Ronaldo (2014 winner), Bale, Pepe and Kroos are on the list which also contains Buffon, Griezmann, Messi, Müller, Neuer and Luis Suárez. The award will be presented on 25 August in Monaco.
The ten candidate have made the cut from the list of 37 nominees, with the final three being decided on 5 August after a second vote. The winner will be revealed on 25 August in Monaco during the draw for the group stages of the Champions League. The jury is made up of journalists from each of the federations who make up UEFA.
Cristiano Ronaldo
Scored 51 goals with Madrid (35 in La Liga and 16 in Champions League) and the decisive penalty that saw the Whites win la Undécima. With Portugal he won the European Championship where he scored 3 goals and was the top scorer in the final phases. He also became the first player to score in 4 European Championships. He was chosen in the best 11 in the tournament.
Gareth Bale
In Milan he won his second Champions League with Madrid, scoring in the penalty shoot-out. In the league Bale scored 19 goals. With Wales he was one of the best players in the European Championship, takin the team to the semi-final in their first ever appearance in the tournament.
Pepe
The Portuguese defender won the same double as his teammate Cristiano Ronaldo. After winning the Champions league in the san Siro and having a complete season, the Real Madrid centre defender lifted the European Championship trophy with Portugal. He was chosen as man of the match in the final.
Kroos
He was again a key player in the midfield for Madrid and his national team, with a pass completion rate of over 90%. The German ended the season with his second Champions League and took his national side to the semi-final of the European Championship, being chosen in the best 11 of the tournament.
