Real Madrid face a stern test as the league leaders take on Atletico Madrid in the Madrid derby at the Cívitas Metropolitano 9pm CET, ahead of the international break. The Whites go into the clash on the back on five wins on the bounce in the competition, along with two in the Champions League and the UEFA Super Cup triumph.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side are in a rich vein of form and will be looking to keep their winning run going in this evening’s Madrid derby. The Whites are the only team to have won all five of their LaLiga fixtures so far this season three of which came on the road, scoring 15 goals in the process three per game on average.
“The derby is a special game and that’s how we’re approaching it”, said Ancelotti in the press conference ahead of the clash. The Italian coach has named this squad for today’s match. Benzema and Lucas Vázquez remain sidelined, but Vini Jr. will be available. The Brazilian has found the net in his last four league outings.

The opposition
Atletico go into the match having lost at home to Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League, but in the league they have picked up 10 points and have a record of three wins, one draw and one defeat. At the Metropolitano they have recorded two victories after thrashing Celta last time out 4-1 and defeating Porto in the European competition 2-1. Morata and Griezmann are the team’s top goal scorers with three goals each.
