The Champions League is back at the Santiago Bernabéu, as the defending champions take on Leipzig on matchday two of the group stage 9 pm CET. The last time Real Madrid took to the pitch at the Bernabéu was for the return leg of the semi-finals against Manchester City, which saw the Whites produce a sublime comeback to seal an unbelievable win as the team went on the claim the Decimocuarta.

Today, Ancelotti’s men return to the scene of so many magical nights to host Leipzig. The Whites will be vying to continue their winning start to the season and pick up their second victory in the Champions League this campaign, after last week’s win in Glasgow against Celtic 0-3. This will be the first time the team has gone head-to-head with the German outfit in an official match. The madridistas have a favourable record against German sides in the Champions League, remaining unbeaten in all 11 of their matches.
“It's an important game in terms of group qualification”, said Ancelotti in the press conference ahead of the clash. The Italian has named Vini Jr. in his squad and the Brazilian has found the net in the last five outings Celta, Espanyol, Betis, Celtic and Mallorca. The Whites have got off to a blistering start with some fine offensive play, averaging 2.8 goals per game.

Leipzig got off to a losing start at home to Shakhtar Donetsk 1-4 in the European competition.
