Today marks 68 years since Real Madrid's basketball team got their hands on a third Copa de España. On 6 June 1954, our team clinched the title when they beat Joventut in the final 56-41. The madridistas, who had won the trophy for the first time just three years earlier, dominated the 50s, reaching eight successive Copa finals and winning five.

Following an evenly matched first half, Real Madrid pulled away after the break before going on to win by 15 points at Madrid's Frontón Fiesta Alegre. Galíndez was the standout man in the game, making the difference for the team led by Freddy Borrás as player-coach.
