Today marks the eighth anniversary of Real Madrid’s fourth Club World Cup trophy. On 20 December 2014, the Whites defeated San Lorenzo 2-0 in the final of the tournament, which was staged in Marrakech Morocco. Sergio Ramos was the star of the competition, scoring decisive goals in the semi-final and the final, before being named Player of the Tournament.
In the clash against San Lorenzo, it was Ramos who opened the scoring in the 37th minute and Gareth Bale settled the game with a goal in the second half. Previously in the semi-final, the madridistas took on Mexican side Cruz Azul and ran out 4-0 winners courtesy of goals from Ramos, Benzema, Bale and Isco. This year’s edition was the first with the current Club World Cup format and it was Madrid’s fourth trophy of a sensational 2014, having clinched the Décima, the Copa del Rey and the UEFA Super Cup.
