On 23 March 1975, Real Madrid clinched the league for the 17th time in the club's history. The Whites secured the championship on the penultimate matchday by defeating Círculo Católico 68-93. Pedro Ferrándiz's men finished that league season with a total of 40 points, while Barcelona finished second with 38 points.
 
Walter Szczerbiak was Madrid's top scorer in that season, when the madridistas pulled off a double by also lifting the Copa de España. This was Real Madrid's eighth consecutive league title.
