The Real Madrid Foundation marks Down Syndrome Day with a celebration of inclusive sports
The social sporting school in Battambang welcomed the Cambodian National Paralympic Committee (CNPC).
Inclusive sport is one the Real Madrid Foundation's principal lines of activity, a point made by Felipe Reyes in his message on social networks. A special highlight in this activity was the visit of the Cambodian Paralympic Committee to the Foundation's social sports school dedicated to inclusion in Battambang. A hundred children, including landmine victims, receive education and get their basic needs covered through the collaboration between SAUCE and the Real Madrid Foundation.
During the visit of the Paralympic Committee with athletes who took part in the Tokyo 2021 Paralympic Games, all the children who benefit from the social sporting school in the Battambang prefecture in Cambodia were extremely motivated. The committee carried out tests with the students from this project, which was the first inclusive school at an international level launched by the Real Madrid Foundation.
As a result of the activity, a hundred children, including students with special needs, have access to quality education and take part in numerous activities aimed at ensuring their inclusion. The students all enjoyed a fun event. The Paralympic athletes highlighted the importance of motivating students to be physically active, both for entertainment and as a tool to achieve a better quality of life through a healthy lifestyle. In addition, they talked about their experiences, which motivated the students in a very positive way.
Down's Syndrome, Autism and TGD
As well as Cambodia, the Foundation also runs inclusive social sporting schools in Morocco and Colombia. In Spain, it also operates 13 adapted basketball schools, 7 inclusive football and basketball schools for children with ASD, Down's Syndrome or TGD with the new addition this season of schools in Móstoles, 3 wheelchair basketball schools and 2 adapted integration football schools.
