Real Madrid return to the scene where the team clinched the Décima four years before with the aim of adding to their silverware list, the competition’s most decorated one. This evening the Whites will take to the court at the Stark Arena in Belgrade to face Barcelona in the semi-finals of the 2022 Final Four. This Clásico encounter is a rematch of the 2013 and 2014 editions to decide which team will progress to the final - Pablo Laso’s men reached the final on both occasions.

This will be Real Madrid’s seventh semi-final in the last ten years and all of these matches have come under Laso’s guidance, while it will be Barça’s fourth. The madridistas have progressed to the final from four of these and the Catalans have done so once. The semi-final in London with the 67-74 victory remains in the memory, but in particular the Milan semi-final, where the madridistas triumphed by 38 points 62-100. Those are all behind us now and it will be another tough battle today between two teams that know their opponents to perfection.
The madridistas and the blaugranas have been battling it out for the top spot during the entire Regular Season. Our side was the most valued team of the eight clubs in the playoffs and the only one to make it through the round by 3-0 after overcoming Maccabi. Jaskevicius’ charges had to play all five matchups in their tie against Bayern Munic.

The Whites hit form
Real Madrid go into the clash on the back of nine straight defeats, while Barça do so on a five-game-unbeaten run. In terms of points scored, Barcelona average two more, but our team concedes two fewer. Laso’s troops top the EuroLeague charts in assists, rebounds and blocks and have got back to their best in offence. So far this month, they have racked up over 90 points in three of their four games, scoring 89 in the other one.

The opposition boasts the best three-point percentages in the competition, and this is one of their strengths, along with their intensity and endurance. This is where Madrid will have to square up. The emotional element and the pressure will be other decisive factors in tonight's Clásico. Just 40 minutes separate us from the 19th final in the club’s history.
