A gruelling week of away fixtures gets underway
Real Madrid travel to face Bayern Munich in the first of three matches away from the WiZink Center (8:30pm CET).
Real Madrid face three games on the road in the space of six days – Munich today, Kaunas on Thursday and Tenerife on Sunday. This evening the Whites visit Bayern in the first clash of a EuroLeague double-header. Madrid, who go into the fixture on the back of three victories on their travels at Emporio Armani Milan, Valencia Basket and Fenerbahçe, will be vying to secure their ninth win in the competition against a side fighting to make the playoff spots.
Chus Mateo‘s men are in for a stern test this week as they bid to maintain their rich vein of form away from home, which has seen them pick up four wins out of five in the European competition. From Bayern’s court the madridistas have emerged victorious on their last two visits 76-81 and 76-80. Meanwhile, the Germans sit in fourteenth place in the standings and slipped to defeat last time out in Vitoria, but on their court, they have sent Maccabi and Anadolu Efes away empty-handed.

The Whites are up against a highly competitive side, who never gives in. They are strong on the offensive rebound and possess extremely physical players in the form of ex-Madrid man Hunter, Lucic, Bonga and Rubit. They score most of their points from the perimeter, with Weiler-Babb, Walden, Winston and the shooter Obst. Chus Mateo's troops average almost 12 points more and are the top team in rebounding 37.6, meaning that a fierce battle should be on the cards in this area.
Squad
As seen on Sunday, Madrid have plenty of strength on the bench. Tavares is back after being rested in the win against Baxi Manresa. But the madridistas boast a wealth of talent on the inside, and Poirier delivered a great performance 26 in PIR. Yabusele is also finding his groove in a team with Musa as the top scorer in this competition 15.7 points. As for the previous meetings with Bayern, the Whites have a record of 8 wins from 11 games.
