The Santiago Bernabéu pays an emotional tribute to Amancio Amaro

Before the derby, the Santiago Bernabéu paid an emotional tribute to our beloved honorary president, Amancio Amaro, who passed away last Tuesday at the age of 83. Real Madrid remembered the figure of one of the greatest legends of our club and of world football, winner of the sixth European Cup, 9 Spanish Leagues and 3 Spanish Cups, he also won the first European Championship with the Spanish national team in 1964 at the Santiago Bernabéu itself. Jesús Pascual Babiloni, Real Madrid player between 1968 and 1970, winner of 1 Spanish League and 1 Spanish Cup, was also remembered in this tribute.

A large shirt with the number 7 in the centre of the pitch crowned the event, together with the trophies won by Amancio. Behind them, all the Real Madrid players posed with shirts of the great Galician footballer. On the pitch, a string quartet accompanied the emotional tribute with which the fans at the Santiago Bernabéu bid farewell to a legend: Amancio Amaro.
