Real Madrid picked up the first three points of 2023 when they visited Madrid CFF. A strong performance from our side saw them secure the win in the league matchday fourteen fixture. The first goal of the game came in the first move of the match as Esther opened the scoring before completing her brace before the break. Following the interval, Weir increased the lead with a well-struck shot from outside the area. Maite Oroz rounded off the away win in the final minutes of the game.
Toril's side went ahead in the first minute of the game. Svava delivered a cross from wide, and after Athenea tried her luck with a shot, the ball fell to Esther. The forward latched on to the rebound from her own shot and headed the ball home to make it 1-0. The two sides were playing with high intensity with Real Madrid who were looking to increase their lead as the home side were in search of an equaliser.
Misa pulled off two good saves to deny Madrid CFF. With 23 minutes on the clock, the goalkeeper flicked the ball over the crossbar following a powerful free-kick from Karen. The second goal of the game arrived in the 38th minute through Esther, who once again was on hand to beat Paola Ulloa from a rebound, this time from Weir.

The decisive goals
After the break, the match continued with the same level of intensity. Madrid CFF sought to dominate the proceedings, but our team were looking to put the game to bed. And they did so thanks to a goal from Weir, who struck a superb shot from outside the area (53'). The home side had a chance to pull one back after that, with Kundananji's shot striking the post in the 66th minute. With 10 minutes to go, Ulloa denied Feller, but could do nothing about Maite Oroz's strike from the edge of the area (84') to secure the win for Madrid.
