Real Madrid got the better of Levante in the Copa de la Reina quarter-finals after fighting back from a goal down at the Ciudad Deportiva Buñol. The hosts went ahead from the penalty spot after just 3 minutes, but our team turned the game around with goals for Esther, Olga and Asllani. The madridistas book their place in the Copa semi-finals for the first time in their history and will now go head-to-head with UDG Tenerife, Barcelona or Sporting de Huelva on 25 or 26 May.
The game started as an uphill battle for Toril's team, who went behind after only 3 minutes when Redondo converted from the spot. The response wasted no time in materialising though and with barely 15 minutes played, the scoreboard was already in the madridistas' favour. Esther levelled things up after just five minutes when she pounced on a rebound in the box to beat Paraluta. With 10 on the clock, Olga notched the second when she acrobatically turned Asllani's cross into the net, before the Swedish ace got on the scoresheet herself five minutes later to make it 1-3 when she finished a one-on-one with aplomb.
Madrid hold onto their lead
The hosts looked to hit back but Misa performed brilliantly to keep them at arm's length until the break. In the second half, Teresa had a good chance to extend the madridista lead with a long-range strike which whistled just over the crossbar with 15 minutes to play. Our team ultimately maintained their advantage until the end of the clash to seal their place in the Copa de la Reina semi-finals.
