Real Madrid beat Stade de Reims in the final in Stuttgart.Real Madrid and Stade de Reims met at the Neckarstadion in Stuttgart in a repeat of the first ever European Cup final. The Whites came out on top to claim their fourth title, beating the French side with a goal from Mateos in the 2nd minute and another from Di Stéfano. 58 years on and the madridistas are once again in the final of this competition on the 3rd of June, against a team who they have already beaten to lift the title in the past - Juventus.
In the 1958/59 tournament, the Whites also clashed with Atlético in the semi-finals. It was the first Madrid derby in Europe and the knock-out tie needed a third match as a decider. That game was played in Zaragoza and the madridistas won it 2-1 with goals from Di Stéfano and Puskas. Their other rivals on the way to that title were Besiktas and Wiener SK.
