A standout goalscorer right through the madridista, Portillo came into the first team after being one of Castilla's top performers as they were crowned 2001/02 group champions. He made his debut in a Champions League clash with Panathinaikos, scoring the equaliser just ten minutes after taking to the pitch. That same year, Real Madrid went on to lift La Novena in Glasgow.
As well as his Champions League triumph, as a madridista, Portillo got his hands on the following trophies: 1 LaLiga title, 1 Interncontinental Cup, 1 European Super Cup and 1 Spanish Super Cup. He made 59 appearances for our team, scoring 17 goals. In the 2005/06, he made the move to Bruges.
