Kroos: “We're looking forward to going to the United States and meeting our fans”
'It's always a great atmosphere there for these games', said the midfielder.
Toni Kroos talked to Real Madrid's official media and gave his thoughts on the pre-season and the tour of the United States: 'It's special to go to the United States as it's the only opportunity for us to play there throughout the year, given that during the season we play in Spain and in other countries close to us. We always look forward to going there in the summer and meeting the many fans we have there. We see how warmly they welcome us every year and to see four cities for four games is great'.
'Pre-season is always hard work as you're trying to set the foundations that will help throughout the season or that should help you throughout the season. That's what we're doing. We continue to work with and without the ball, that is more or less the same every year. We don't have that much time because we've got these nine days here and then we start with the warm-up games'.
US tour
'We've got four games coming up and the games mean you don't have as much time to train so hard. The games are important in order to get the tempo up so the days here are very important to lay the foundations for the whole season'.
Importance of preparation
'The most important thing is to get up to speed, specially in the first game and regain the feeling of being out on a pitch'.
Soccer Champions Tour
'It's always a great atmosphere in the United States. Real Madrid and Manchester United are perhaps the two clubs with the most fans there. So I'm expecting a great atmosphere, but it's also a great chance for them to see us play because all our games are in Europe throughout the season. Those games in the United States are always a great occasion'.
El Clásico
'It's a special game and at a special stadium, which is what the game deserves. This match is probably one that's not a friendly. I think a Clásico against Barcelona can never be a friendly. This kind of game will help us to get up to speed, it'll be our third game there. I think we'll get better every game. Improving our fitness'.
'The team will have already played two games to come back together after the summer and it's always important to regain the feeling of playing together. Hopefully against Barcelona we'll be at that point. Hopefully we can put on a good performance, a good game for our fans over there and win because it's never a friendly against Barcelona.'
Football in the United States
'You can say that football in the United States is getting better, growing. They're hosting the 2026 World Cup so I think the idea is to grow and you can see that. More players are coming into their league now. Their league will improve, grow and get bigger and bigger. That's their idea. Particularly with the World Cup in mind. It's always good if teams are improving. I think the United States has a lot of potential when it comes to football. There are a lot of big cities like Orlando in order to build great football teams.'
