This week, in Goles con Historia, the spotlight turns to Emilio Butragueño. The striker came into the Real Madrid first team after dazzling in the Castilla team. Speed, dribbling, talent and a nose for goal are just some of the aspects in which he excelled. He also inspired the name of the Quinta del Buitre.
In the 1988/1989 season, Real Madrid hosted Elche at the Santiago Bernabéu on matchday 17. The striker scored Madrid's first goal in a match that ended in a 4-2 win. Butragueño lost his man and made it into the box, he then let the ball run and in the one-on-one he beat the Elche goalkeeper.
