Thibaut Courtois made his 150th LaLiga appearance for Real Madrid in the match against Valencia at the Bernabéu. The goalkeeper, who arrived at our club in the summer of 2018, reached this milestone in his fifth season playing at a remarkable level. His saves were instrumental in securing two LaLiga titles: in 2019/20, when he won the Zamora Trophy, and in 2020/21. Following the game, the Belgian said: "We've kept three clean sheets in three games. I'd have preferred to have conceded in the game against Real Sociedad and still won. What's most important is the three points.

"We've improved defensively against Athletic, Real and Valencia. They didn't have any chances today. We played well, but we didn't get a goal in the first half. We were able to score in the second half. After the sending off, it was easy".
"Sometimes you can be right and sometimes you can be wrong about the disallowed goals. I saw the move at half-time and Benzema inadvertently hit him with his hand. But the referee says it was with his elbow and I didn't see that. There are tussles in the penalty area, which sometimes go our way and sometimes go against us. It's the same thing that happened against Real Sociedad. If the player goes to ground, the VAR is going to see something and even more so with the slow motion. The important thing is that it didn't affect our victory and we imposed our game in the second half."

Protecting Vini Jr.

"I don't know why he kicked him. You have to protect Vini. He is a very expressive kid on the pitch and he pulls off a lot of dribbling moves that defenders don't like. It's his way of playing and we need him to unbalance defences. In many games he gets kicked and today the referee had the courage to send the player off for a kick without the ball; with no rhyme or reason".

Courtois boasts 99 wins in the 150 LaLiga games he has played as a Real Madrid player. The season in which he played the most games was the 2020/21 season, with 38. His record with Real Madrid also includes 1 Champions League, 1 Club World Cup, 1 European Super Cup and 2 Spanish Super Cups. Courtois, who won the most recent Yashin Trophy, is nominated for FIFA Best Goalkeeper 2022.
