Today marks 20 years since Real Madrid clinched a 29th LaLiga title in their history. The team clinched glory on the final matchday after a 3-1 win over Athletic Club at the Santiago Bernabéu, where a Ronaldo double and a Roberto Carlos strike handed the Whites the trophy. The 2002/03 title race proved to be a tight affair as Real Madrid 78 points ultimately pipped Real Sociedad 76 points to the post.

Vicente del Bosque's troops finished the season as the division's highest scorers 86. In the individual stakes, Ronaldo's 23-goal haul saw him top the team's scoring charts. The LaLiga title was the team's third piece of silverware of the season after they had secured the UEFA Super Cup after beating Feyenoord and enjoyed Intercontinental Cup success following victory over Club Olimpia.
