On 15 June 1957, Real Madrid basketball team's claimed a fifth Spanish Cup success. On 15 June 1957, our team edged past Aismalíbar in the showpiece played in Vigo in a 54-50 triumph. Alfonso Martínez was the leading scorer in the match with 22 points. Real Madrid reached the final after beating Orillo Verde in the previous round 53-42, whilst the Montcada-based team overcame Barcelona in the other tie.
This victory saw Ignacio Pinedo's troops clinch the club's second successive Spanish Cup and win the competition for the fifth time in seven years. Real Madrid enjoyed an excellent season after having captured the maiden league title a month earlier.
