Real Madrid's tenth European Cup in basketball reaches its seventh anniversary. After the trophy won in 2015, Pablo Laso's team lifted their second European crown in four seasons after the Final Four in Belgrade. Madrid bounced back brilliantly from an injury-plagued season to take the EuroLeague title with an 85-80 defeat of Fenerbahçe in the final. Causeur was Madridista's top scorer with 17 points and Doncic (15) was crowned MVP of the Final Four. The Slovenian was also voted best player of the EuroLeague.

Before the game against the Turks, Real Madrid defeated CSKA Moscow in the semi-finals, who were the best team in the Regular Season (83-92). In the final, Laso's charges beat Fenerbahçe after setting the pace in a game that was not decided until the last minute. At 81-78 down with 22 seconds left, a basket by Thompkins after an offensive rebound and two free throws by Causeur ensured the Madridistas claimed La Décima.
