On 23 September 1953, Di Stéfano made his Real Madrid debut in a friendly against Nancy. The Blond Arrow did not disappoint in his opening game in front of the madridista fans, netting his first goal for the club with a headed effort.

Di Stéfano wore the Real Madrid jersey from 1953 to 1964, hitting 308 goals in 396 appearances. The greatest player of all time led the club to five successive European Cups, an Intercontinental Cup, two Copas Latinas, eight LaLiga titles, a Copa de España and a Small World Cup. He was also named LaLiga top scorer on five occasions.

Competitive debut
Di Stéfano's first ever competitive Real Madrid appearance came a few days later, on 27 September, a LaLiga matchday three clash with Racing de Santander. Madridismo once again witnessed his eye for a goal, as he found the net in a 4-2 victory. His performances for Real Madrid were rewarded with the Ballon d'Or in 1957 and 1959, while he was later acknowledged with the only Super Ballon d'Or ever awarded.
