Today marks the 69th anniversary of the first European Cup
The Real Madrid legend in the competition began on 13 June 1956 with a 4-3 victory over Stade de Reims in the final.

On 13 June 1956, Real Madrid won the European Cup for the first time after a historic match against Stade de Reims. The Parc des Princes in Paris hosted an exciting final, in which the French team took a 2-0 lead in the opening minutes. Di Stéfano and Rial levelled the score before half-time, but in the 62nd minute, Hidalgo scored again for Stade de Reims. The Whites began their European legend with a comeback in the final stages thanks to goals from Marquitos and Rial, who scored twice.
In the first edition, Real Madrid made their European Cup debut against Servette on 8 September 1955 in Geneva. Miguel Muñoz scored Madrid's first goal in the competition in a 2-0 win. Their opponents in the following rounds were Partizan and Milan.

68 years after that final, Real Madrid is the most successful club in the history of the European Cup, with 15 titles. It is also the club that has participated in the most editions (54), the one with the most wins (294), and the one that has scored the most goals (1,075).
