62 years ago, Real Madrid secured its 6th basketball league championship. On 28 April 1963, on the penultimate day of the final phase, coach Joaquín Hernández’s team was mathematically proclaimed champion after beating Joventut 112-66. It was the fourth consecutive National League title for the Whites, underpinning its dominance in Spanish basketball by winning the next three championships for a total of seven in a row.
The Madridistas dominated that season with a record of 14 victories in 16 games between the first phase and the final phase. In the latter, they scored 11 points compared to 9 each for Estudiantes and Joventut. Emiliano was the championship's top scorer with 319 points and was the leader in a team that also featured Sevillano, Lolo Sainz, Clifford Luyk and Burgess.
