37 years since the first Spanish Super Cup

On September 29, 1988, Real Madrid lifted its first Spanish Super Cup. In that edition, our team, which competed as League champions, faced Barcelona, the Copa del Rey winners.
The first leg took place on September 21 at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, where Madrid won thanks to goals from Míchel and Hugo Sánchez, to take a 2-0 lead in the final. Eight days later, Madrid lost by the narrowest of margins at Camp Nou (2-1), but still lifted the trophy.
