On 18 April 1905, Real Madrid clinched their first ever Copa de España trophy. The Whites secured the cup after defeating Athletic 1-0 in a tournament that was played in Madrid and was a three-way competition, also involving San Sebastián and Athletic,who went into the trophy as reigning champions. In the first game Madrid beat San Sebastián 3-0.

In the next match against Athletic, Prast got the winning goal to clinch the trophy for the madridistas for the first ever time. That season’s cup success signalled the beginning of a dominant period for Real Madrid in the Copa de España, with the club going on to win the next four editions. 117 years later, Real Madrid have a total of 19 trophies to the name in this competition.
