Today is the 55th anniversary of Real Madrid basketball team's 12th Cup win. On 23 April 1970, our team were crowned champions when they came out on top against Joventut (102-90) in the final held in León. After wins over Estudiantes in the quarter-finals and SD Kas in the semis, Real Madrid got their hands on the Cup three years on from their previous title.
In the finale against Joventut, Luyk and Cabrera were the standout players for the madridistas, with 20 points apiece. Following a tight first half (47-40), Pedro Ferrándiz's team managed their lead well and set in motion what would become one of Real Madrid's most illustrious periods in the Copa de España (six titles in a row).
