We won our 5th Spanish Cup 108 years ago
Real Madrid beat Arenas 2-1 in the replay on 15 May 1917.

This year marks the 108th anniversary of Real Madrid's fifth Spanish Cup victory. Arenas was the opponent in the final, which was decided over two legs. The first match was played on 13 May in Barcelona, with neither side able to score after regulation time and two 10-minute periods of extra time. The 0-0 draw meant a replay, which took place two days later at the same venue.
The decisive match was again very evenly matched and epic in duration. The Basque team took the lead in the first half, but Madrid equalised thanks to a goal from René Petit. The score was 1-1 at the final whistle, so the match went into extra time, but the winner was still not decided. At the start of the second period of extra time, Álvarez scored the winning goal for Madrid, who held on to the lead until the 130th minute. This win meant that our club lifted the cup once again following their previous title in 1908.
