Real Madrid honoured as Historic Sports Club in gold category by Madrid City Council
Arbeloa collected this award, which recognises sports institutions over 100 years old.

Real Madrid were honoured at the ceremony for historic sports clubs held by the Madrid City Council. At the event, which was staged in the Galería de Cristal of the Palacio de Cibeles, the club received the distinction in the gold category for being over 100 years old. Álvaro Arbeloa represented Real Madrid at a ceremony that was presided over by the mayor, José Luis Martínez-Almeida.
A total of 57 clubs were recognised for their efforts as leading forces in the development of sport in the Spanish capital. Along with Real Madrid, another 10 clubs received the distinction in the gold category, 12 in the silver category (over 75 years) and 34 in the bronze category (over 50 years).
