The day that Franz Benckenbauer visited Real Madrid City
NEWS.

On 22 June 2015, Real Madrid City was visited by a legend of world football: Franz Beckenbauer. The man who at the time was honorary president of Bayern Munich travelled to Valdebebas, where he was welcomed by our president, Florentino Pérez. On that day, Beckenbauer, who died today at the age of 78, toured Real Madrid City in the company of Emilio Butragueño, the club's Director of Institutional Relations, and vice-president Pedro López Jiménez.

The legendary German footballer, a World Cup winner as a player in 1974 and as his country's coach in 1990, expressed his admiration for our club and Real Madrid City: "It's the greatest popularity you can achieve, Real Madrid. I'm not overstating it, I've been a Real Madrid fan since the 1950s. It's amazing what this club has achieved. It's still the most popular club in the world. It's all very spaciously built. The Training Complex and all the facilities for everyone, from the first team to the youngest. They're all here together, with their heroes in front of them. This club has got a lot of things right. So far, I haven't seen any youth academy or any sports complex better than this one".
