NFL welcome ceremony in the Community of Madrid
José Ángel Sánchez and Emilio Butragueño were in attendance to represent Real Madrid.
The Community of Madrid headquarters, La Real Casa de Correos, hosted a welcome ceremony for the NFL two days before the historic match at the Bernabéu between the Miami Dolphins and the Washington Commanders (Sunday, 3:30 pm CET).
José Ángel Sánchez, CEO and member of the Board of Directors of Real Madrid, and Emilio Butragueño, Director of Institutional Relations, represented our club at an event also attended by the Community of Madrid's Minister of Culture, Tourism and Sport Mariano de Paco Serrano; Mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martínez-Almeida; NFL Commissioner, Roger Goodell; and representatives from both teams.
Mariano de Paco Serrano said in his speech: “Many thanks to Real Madrid for having driven forward the construction of one of the finest stadiums on the planet, thanks to which our region can be proud and host events of this magnitude. Every city in the world would love to have a stadium like the Bernabéu".
For his part, José Luis Martínez-Almeida added, “There is no location as iconic as the Santiago Bernabéu at present. Since its inception, it has been able to reinvent itself and adapt to the sporting and social demands of a competition such as football. In recent years, it has undergone a process of renovation that has made it a sporting and architectural icon”.
Roger Goodell: "It's an honour to play at the Bernabéu"
“Real Madrid, I cannot thank you enough for allowing us the honour of playing at the Bernabéu stadium. What an incredible facility. Your hospitality and your facilities have been impressive for all of us.”
