55 years since the club’s 12th league title
Real Madrid clinched the title after defeating Córdoba 3-0.
Today marks the 55th anniversary of Real Madrid’s 12th LaLiga title. On 9 April 1967, the Whites mathematically secured the title by beating Córdoba 3-0 on the penultimate matchday. In the second half of the match, the Bernabéu saw the team put the game to bed courtesy of goals from Grosso, Veloso and Amancio.
That campaign, Real Madrid finished ahead of Barcelona in the league table by five points, whilst remaining unbeaten at home all season. Betancort was awarded the Zamora trophy, while Gento 11 goals and Grosso 10, were the team’s top goal scorers. This legendary side was managed by Miguel Muñoz, who clinched his sixth league title.
