It's been 53 years since Real Madrid won the Spanish Cup for the 11th time. The opponents were Valencia, in a match that took place at the Camp Nou. Penalties from Pirri and Vicente Jara saw the match all square at the break, but our team won the game in the second half thanks to goals from Planelles and Fleitas.

On the road to the Camp Nou match, the madridistas beat Castellón, Las Palmas, Barcelona and Athletic Club in two-legged ties. The squad was coached by  Miguel Muñoz. Amancio was Real Madrid's top scorer that campaign with six goals.
