Today marks the 50th anniversary of Real Madrid's 15th Copa de España in basketball. On May 31, 1973, Pedro Ferrándiz's side claimed the title after defeating Estudiantes 126-87 at the La Salle de Paterna pavilion Valencia. The madridistas continued their dominance of national basketball with their fourth consecutive league and cup double.
 
In the final against Estudiantes, the Whites led from the start and took a 54-48 lead into the halftime break. Madrid increased the scoring tempo after the restart courtesy of Luyk, who finished with 32 points, and Brabender 30. Ferrándiz's men also recorded the highest point difference in a Cup final +39.
