Today marks the 15th anniversary since Real Madrid’s eighth Spanish Super Cup. The Whites slipped to defeat in the first leg against Valencia 3-2, but two goals by Van Nistelrooy at Mestalla proved to be vital for the team’s comeback at the Santiago Bernabéu.

In Madrid, the hosts got off to a bad start by going a goal down in the 33rd minute, but a penalty converted by Van Nistelrooy at the start of the second half spurred on Madrid. Sergio RamosDe la Red and Higuaín turned the tie on its head 4-2 to secure the club’s eight Spanish Super Cup.
