Volunteering and employability day at the Social Sports School in Croydon
UPS UK office, connected to the UPS Foundation, participated in the matches and provided training and employment to the beneficiaries.
Special guests from UPS, including the company’s UK, Ireland and Nordics president Rick Fletcher, attended the matches at the Real Madrid Foundation Social Sports School in Croydon, run by the Kinetic Foundation. With The UPS Foundation a financial partner of the project, UPS’ volunteers got involved in the integration games, centred around recreational training. The event concluded with UPS offering employment opportunities to the beneficiaries.
The project, launched in 2019, supports 100+ young people from diverse communities in the area by providing a safe space for leisure activities, as well as training and employment opportunities. The Social Sports School in Croydon aims to steer those aged 15 to 17 away from the challenges young people face in deprived urban environments. In just four years, an overwhelming 97% of the young people have successfully completed the programme and have continued to higher education, employment, or further training.
