The Sanitas and Real Madrid Foundations, 15 years working together for inclusive sport
More than 150 children and young people took part in the basketball campus and inclusive football schools.
Real Madrid's Director of Institutional Relations Emilio Butragueño, and the Director General of Fundación Sanitas, Yolanda Erburu, have celebrated the 15th anniversary of the collaboration between the Real Madrid Foundation and the Fundación Sanitas. The alliance between the two organisations seeks to promote inclusive sport from childhood through the football and basketball projects run by the Real Madrid Foundation in Madrid and Zaragoza.
The event, which was held in the auditorium at Real Madrid City, assessed the results of the inclusive basketball campus that took place in the summer, as well as reflecting on the success of the integration model for the Real Madrid Foundation's inclusive football schools held in Madrid and Zaragoza during the 2022/23 season. They enjoyed a 40% increase in participation and catered for 125 beneficiaries, involving a total of 7 schools.
“The Real Madrid Foundation's campus and inclusive basketball and football schools are a fine example of how inclusivity in sport is real and must be instilled from childhood. Being an active part of this initiative is a privilege for us and it allows us to promote leisure for all. It also lets us educate these children and young people, helping them to turn into adults with inclusive values,' explained Yolanda Erburu.
Butragueño, meanwhile, underlined the importance of the collaboration: The Fundación Sanitas and the Real Madrid Foundation work together to improve the lives of those who most need access to high quality, educational sport.'
