The Foundation helps more than 2,000 children facing the risk of social exclusion in Morocco
Eight social sports schools have been set up in collaboration with the Paideia Association, the Fatema Foundation, the Hanan Association, Manos Unidas and the Cervantes Association.
The Real Madrid Foundation began its work in Morocco in Tangiers in 2006 and has subsequently grown to include the areas of Marrakech, Benguerir, Mohammedia, Benyekhlef and Tetouan. The Foundation serves more than 2,000 children in vulnerable situations and has an inclusive basketball school for children with disabilities in Tetouan.
In 2011, the collaboration with the Paideia Association started with four schools currently being developed in Marrakech, Benguerir, Khemis Anjra financed with the support of Mohammed bin Rashid Global Initiatives and in Tangiers, with the support of Endesa. The schools are held in social and educational spaces, most of which offer residential facilities for children from families with limited resources or from very vulnerable backgrounds. In addition to the sports sessions under the Foundation's methodology, the boys and girls receive regular support to improve their academic performance.
Fatema Foundation
Since 2014, two social sports schools were launched by the Fatema Foundation in Mohammedia and Benyekhlef. The goal of these schools is to serve more than a hundred children at risk of social exclusion, with academic difficulties or from low-income families from some of the most deprived areas of the city. There, they can join in sporting activities and receive extra tuition, language and computer classes, among other things.
Inclusive school
The Foundation's first inclusive school in Africa is being run to protect children with disabilities, in collaboration with Manos Unidas and the Hanan Association. The programme works with disabled children who are at risk of social exclusion and have academic difficulties. This is a well-established programme that is highly recognised in the country. At this school, the sporting activities are complemented with medical check-ups, vaccination and personal hygiene campaigns as well as psychological care, all of which are essential for this group.
The Foundation's first project in Morocco was initiated in 2006 in collaboration with the Cervantes Association in Tangiers, at the sports facilities in the Souani area, owned by the Spanish Embassy.
