The Foundation and Janssen extend their partnership for the campaign 'Don't get caught offside'
NEWS.
Deputy director general of the Real Madrid Foundation, Iker Casillas, accompanied by Luis Díaz-Rubio, director general of Janssen Iberia, announced the renewal of the partnership between the Real Madrid Foundation and the pharmaceutical company to raise awareness of the campaign "Que no te pille fuera de juego" "Don't get caught offside".

Now in its fourth year, this collaboration seeks to raise awareness of the early detection of prostate cancer, highlighting the importance of men from the age of 50 onwards getting regular check-ups. Prostate cancer is the most common type of cancer in men in Spain and is estimated to affect one in five men at some point during their lives.

Campaign launch
Representatives of the Real Madrid Foundation and Janssen were photographed with a golf ball, which represents the size of the prostate of a man in his 50s, with the slogan for this edition: "Don't get caught offside, take the Men's Technical Inspection".

Launched in November, the traditional month dedicated to raising awareness of men's health in general and particularly prostate cancer, the campaign will run until 11 June 2023, which is the World Prostate Cancer Day. The content will be delivered using messages on the Real Madrid Foundation's social networks, with nearly 5 million followers, with one of the hashtags being #MaleTechnicalInspection, which Janssen uses traditionally to promote the importance of regular prostate check-ups.

Casillas: "Encouraging active ageing is a form of prevention"
During the event, Iker Casillas stated: "In addition to prevention, this campaign supports the sustainability of the Real Madrid Foundation's physical activity programme aimed at the over-65s, which, in promoting active ageing, also serves as a form of prevention". Luis Díaz-Rubio said: "Janssen's partnership with the Real Madrid Foundation is a key element in raising awareness of prostate cancer, given the Foundation's background, its professionalism and its need to communicate healthy habits to the public".

Early detection is a decisive factor in the diagnosis of prostate cancer
Prostate cancer is the result of an atypical, abnormal and uncontrolled cellular transformation of the prostate cells which behaves in a malignant way. Estimates suggest that, during 2022, more than 30,000 new cases of prostate cancer will be detected in Spain, and early detection of the disease increases the chances of a cure. In its early stages, when the cancer is localised and limited to the gland, the chance of survival after five years is 96.8% and stays at 95% over the following 10-15 years.

Age is also a decisive factor in this condition, with the number of cases increasing notably from the age of 50 onwards, and over half of the cases detected in men over 70. Because of this, it's essential to have prostate check-ups from the age of 50 onwards, and also from the age of 45 onwards if you have a family history of the disease.
